If you’ve tried other options and are still having issues, it’s worth trying a different VPN service that consistently works with BitTorrent. You’ll find this in your firewall and network settings, giving you the option to allow an app to communicate through the firewall. To fix this, you’ll need to add your torrent client to your firewall’s “Allow” list. You may find your firewall is automatically configured to block torrent clients from accessing the internet - this is due to the potentially dangerous nature of downloading unknown torrents. To maximize your chances of successfully completing a torrent download, find a different magnet link with positive reviews and plenty of seeding users. A broken or low-quality link or a small number of “seeders” can stop your torrent from downloading. Sometimes, the issue isn’t with the VPN or your torrent client, but with the torrent itself. There is a report of a boa reaching 5.6m in Trinidad, but it is believed that snake was an anaconda, Eunectes murinus, taken for a boa. Such sizes are rare, boas reaching 3m are considered large. Two animals from Suriname are currently the largest on record: One reached 411cm (13.5 ft), the other 427cm (a bit over 14 ft). The largest animals have been found in Northern south America. ^ "Corallus caninus (Emerald Tree Boa)".The size adult animals reach varies among subspecies.Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press. Snake Species of the World: A Taxonomic and Geographic Reference, Volume 1. ^ a b McDiarmid RW, Campbell JA, Touré T.Newly born juveniles have a distinctive brick-red to orange coloration and gradually go through an ontogenetic color change over a period of 12 months, gradually turning to full emerald green. Litters exceeding these numbers are extremely rare. The emerald tree boa is ovoviviparous, with females producing an average of between 6 and 14 young at a time, sometimes even more. Juvenile and neonates have also been known to feed on small lizards and frogs, particularly glass frogs (observation made by Henderson et al.). However, studies of the stomach contents of this species indicate that the majority of its diet consists of small mammals such as rodents and marsupials. ![]() Previously, it had been thought that the primary diet consisted of birds. Due to the extremely slow metabolism of this species, it feeds much less often than ground dwelling species and meals may be several months apart. The diet consists primarily of small mammals, but they have been known to eat some smaller bird species as well as lizards and frogs. The type locality given is "Americae." The 'Basin' species, as the name suggests, is only found along the basin of the Amazon River, in southern Suriname, southern Guiana, southern Venezuela to Colombia, Peru and Brazil and in the surrounding jungles of the Amazon River. Geographic range įound in South America in the northern region of Colombia, Brazil, and from Venezuela to Suriname and the Guianas within the so-called Guiana Shield. The specific or subspecific name, batesii, is in honor of Henry Walter Bates, an English naturalist and explorer, for whom Batesian mimicry is also named. Physical differences include the head scalation and the location of the heat pits around the mouth.Īn emerald tree boa at the San Diego Zoo in San Diego, California Etymology This is an example of convergent evolution: the species are only very distantly related. The emerald tree boa appears very similar to the southern green tree python ( Morelia viridis) from southeast Asia and Australia. Hybrid forms between the Northern Shield Corallus caninus and the Amazon Basin form are also known to exist. The snout scales in Amazon Basin specimens are also much smaller than in their Northern, Southern and Western counterparts found, for example, in Suriname, Venezuela, Bolivia, and French Guiana. Amazon Basin specimens generally have an uninterrupted white dorsal line, whereas the white markings in specimens from Guyana and Surinam (known as "Guyana Shield" or "Northern" emerald tree boas) are quite variable. Those from the southern end of their range in Peru tend to be darker in color. Specimens from the Amazon River basin tend to grow the largest, are much more docile than their Northern relatives and attain lengths of 7–9 feet (2.1–2.7 m), while the overall average size is closer to 6 feet (1.8 m). The name recently suggested for this morphological variant, is Corallus batesii. Some herpetologists have considered whether they should be classified as a new species based on locality. ![]() As opposed to popular belief, yellow juveniles (as in the green tree python) do not occur in the emerald tree boa. This also occurs in green tree python ( Morelia viridis), a python species in which hatchlings and juveniles may also be canary yellow or brick-red. Juveniles vary in color between various shades of light and dark orange or brick-red before ontogenetic coloration sets in and the animals turn emerald green (after 9–12 months of age). The bright coloration and markings are very distinctive among South American snakes. The color pattern typically consists of an emerald green ground color with a white irregular interrupted zigzag stripe or so-called 'lightning bolts' down the back and a yellow belly. They have highly developed front teeth that are likely proportionately larger than those of any other non-venomous snake. The program watches the on/off sequence of the LED and converts it into English!Įarlier, I was thinking of processing the whole webcam frame and finding the on/ off state of the LED, but this technique made the application work too slow that it couldn't even differentiate between a dot and a dash. To add more fun, I added another feature of decoding this Morse code. PortInterop.Output( 888, 0) // set all data pins to 0 PortInterop.Output( 888, 255) // set all data pins to 1 Int sleep = Convert.ToInt16(some vaue) // pause between dot and dash if (ch = '. All I have to do is enter a phrase in English and press the button. Generating the Morse code (by flashing an LED)Īs, you can see in the picture above, the program can control an LED connected to the parallel port of my computer and make it flash Morse code. Ever since I made the webcam enabled Tic-Tac-Toe, I was thinking of some unique ways to communicate with my computer using something real and physical. Perhaps you are asking, "What's the use?" Well, no practical use. Not to forget the most interesting part: the program can use the webcam and a little bit of image processing to make the computer understand the Morse code flashing LED and convert it back to English. ![]() For dots, the LED remains "on" for lesser time than dashes, thus giving an impression of Morse code. Well, in this article, I'm demonstrating a program that can control an LED connected to the parallel port of my computer and make it flash Morse code. I hope you all know what Morse code is for those who are not aware of it, Morse code is a standardized sequence of dots and dashes to represent any character and number. ![]() No family member or friend commenting on my drinking? No risky behavior (driving after drinking more than 2 or 3 drinks)? No physical effects (hangover, memory loss, loss of control)? What do I expect from my alcohol consumption?Ĭan I honestly say that there are no negative consequences of my drinking? Has drinking become an important priority? How will you know if you are drinking too much? Here are some key questions to ask to help you in your self-assessment:Īm I drinking alcohol as a beverage or using it as a drug?ĭo I need alcohol to relax or relieve the stress of working with clients?ĭo I use alcohol to cope with negative reactions and emotions?ĭo I use alcohol to manage social functions or relationships?ĭo I make sure that there is always time for alcohol in my schedule? So a key to assessing when you are drinking too much has as much to do with why and how you are drinking as it has to do with how much you are drinking. Most problematic expectancies related to alcohol are connected with drug effects, not beverage characteristics. At the same time, it is a restricted and regulated substance that one should learn to use responsibly only after reaching the age of 21. Alcohol is viewed as a most effective social lubricant, a tension reducer, an inhibition releaser, a sexual enhancer, a courage builder, and a communication facilitator. ![]() Part of the problem lies in shared ambivalence and attitudes about alcohol and what we expect from it. However, if use of alcohol has transitioned from beverage to drug, from use to abuse, from drinking in moderation to drinking too much, the individual will likely have problems.Īlcohol is a drug with specific mechanisms of action in the brain and documented neurocognitive, behavioral, and emotional effects. Having a drink can be a socially acceptable way to escape from the stress of patient care, the loneliness and burden of confidentiality, and the tension of an overextended work schedule.Īs long as alcohol remains a beverage and does not become a drug, it does not pose a problem. Some may be vulnerable to the lure of alcohol to relieve stress in order to deal with the daily exposure to the toxic emotions and problems of patients. Psychologists are not immune from the problem. SeptemMany very successful and competent individuals have found themselves in trouble with alcohol and have had to free themselves from problem drinking.
